Blair Stocker Mastering Color Value Workshop

  • Patch Reef Park - Community Center 2000 West Yamato Rd Boca Raton, FL, 33431 United States (map)

SFMQG is excited to be hosting Blair Stocker the weekend of March 7-8th, 2020.

Blair has been creative her entire life. As the owner of Wise Craft Handmade, her passion is simple - those special fabrics we hold on to and want to use in just the right project? She designs modern patchwork quilts with them. The coveted, vintage, and important fabrics (plus the stories they hold) are what inspire her most.

Sunday, March 8th will be a full day workshop - Mastering Color Value.

Register in the Store.

Note: Patch Reef’s Community Center opens at 10am on Sunday, so we will start as soon as possible after the doors open.

Class Description:

This class is fun and dynamic, and will open your eyes to color value.

Here are the basic supplies you’ll need:

***IMPORTANT*** You need my Ruby Ruler for our workshop. If you have one already, awesome! Please bring it with you to class. If you don’t have one, please purchase Ruby Ruler for $16. I will bring your ruler to our workshop and hand them out, and save you the shipping charge.
● Fabrics- Approximately 2-3 yards total of 5” cut squares from your favorite printed
quilting cottons of all kinds, colors, and prints. Tip- The more variety you have, the better.
Precutting any larger pieces of fabrics into 5” squares prior to class will save time
and will give you more design time! Don’t think too hard about what you bring (meaning
don’t consider whether each fabric is a light value, dark value, etc). Just grab your
favorites, even a few of your not-so-favorites. I have fabric scrap packs of precut 5”
square available in my online shop.

(Note: 130 five-inch squares equals about 2 yards of fabric)
● Two paper bags- some sort of bag you can’t see through, preferable something larger
than a lunch-sized bag.
● Pins
● Seam Ripper
● Marking pen or pencil
● Sewing Machine (don’t forget your cords and foot pedals!) with neutral thread
● Cutting mat, rotary cutter, quilting ruler (one a bit larger than the Ruby Ruler is great, for
cutting longer pieces)

● Flannel-backed tablecloth or some batting, to use as a design wall.

Note: we need a few participants to bring irons and ironing boards for everyone to share. Please bring one if you are able to do so!

Any questions at all, please email me. See you soon.
